Introduction

This document describes the installation and configuration of the SCOM Plugin for Operaio Desktop Alert.

Installation

Must be reviewed. There is SCSM-specific stuff in this section.

The installation is performed using the management pack import functionality of SCSM. Please refer to the Microsoft TechNet Library for more information on how to import management packs:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh524269.aspx

Follow these steps to install the SCOM Plugin for Operaio Desktop Alerts:

  1. Copy the itnetX.DesktopAlerts.MsgSource.SCOM.dll to \bin folder of the Desktop Alert server
  2. Log on to SCSM Workflow server using an account with administrative privileges in SCSM. The SCSM Workflow Server is by default the first SCSM Management Server installed.
  3. Copy the itnetX.DesktopAlerts.SCSM.Workflows.dll to SCSM management server folder
  4. Import the itnetX.DesktopAlerts.Library.mp Management Pack into your SCSM environment.
  5. Import the itnetX.SCSM.Licensing.Library.mpb Management Pack into your SCSM environment.
  6. Import the itnetX.SCSM.DesktopAlertSCOMv1.LicenseInfo.mp or the itnetX.SCSM.scsmProdPackv1.LicenseInfo.mp (Bundle license for Productivity Pack) Management Pack into your SCSM environment.
  7. Restart the SCSM Console.

Installing and removing Plugins

To install the SCSM plugin, just copy the .dll file into the Plugins directory. Since the Server Application scans this folder at startup, you will need to restart the application in the IIS management console.

To remove a plugin, just remove it from the Plugins directory. You may need to stop the application to do that.

Configuration

In the following we’re going to describe the SCOM Plugin for Operaio Desktop Alerts.

This plugin holds its settings in the common web.config file in the root directory of the Server Application.

To change the location of the SCOM server, find the line <add key="scom:ServerNameOrIP" value="scom2007" /> and modify the “value” attribute.
